Your teacher didn’t create your capability — he just forced you to discover it. Which means the real source of motivation was inside you all along (intrinsic vs extrinsic). He just handed you a reason to access it. It’s like a one-time ignition. Once he lit the fire (extrinsic), it became self-sustaining (intrinsic).

Michael Jordan was also wired this way — to the point of inventing slights when none existed, just to keep the fire burning.

Who knew you and MJ had more in common than shoes?

My 11th grade teacher got me to read the first book I ever read and it hooked me for life. Long live Mr. Anderson!
